Just a short drive from Cashiers, Highlands is a charming mountain town with great shopping, galleries, and restaurants.

The Ruffed Grouse Tavern and Ugly Dog Public House are two of our favorite spots to grab a drink and a bite to eat.

There are countless great hiking options in the area, ranging from easy walks to more adventurous climbs. One of our favorites is Whiteside Mountain, a ~2 mile loop trail with sweeping views and cliffside overlooks.

Lake Glenville, the highest-elevation lake east of the Mississippi, is perfect for relaxing by the water, with public access and a small swimming beach at Pines Creek Recreation Area.

The Cashiers area is known for excellent fly fishing, with guided trips available for all experience levels.

There are a few public golf courses nearby, including Sapphire National Golf Club and Red Bird Golf Links, both offering beautiful mountain views. We suggest reserving tee times in advance.

Whiteside Brewing Company is a laid-back spot for craft beer, food, and live music on weekends, and an easy walk from Hotel Cashiers.
